Owner Spotlight: Corina Murphy
I’m Corina Murphy, a mortgage broker in Mississauga, Ontario.
I look forward to sharing my story. I hope that you will enjoy getting to know me better.
I began my career working with a major bank in 1991, which involved closing mortgages for clients. Helping people buy their dream home gave me an incredible high, and I loved coming to work each day.
As I progressed, I reached a position where I could purchase my first property, which made me feel nervous and excited all at the same time. These mixed emotions gave me an eye-opening experience of what it was like for a first time home buyer.
It also made me realize the limited lending options offered by banks to home seekers. So, as I continued in my role in the bank, I couldn’t help but wonder how many clients I could empower if I had access to more financial institutions.
It inspired me to leave my comfortable bank job after twenty years of service to become an independent mortgage broker that offered a wide variety of full-service lenders.
Over the past few years, I’ve noticed that I’ve become busier, and I assist realtors with their clients’ requirements. Whether it’s a regular mortgage, an alternative mortgage, or a commercial one, I work hard for my clients.
Consequently, I’m known for my integrity, and as an individual, I believe what sets me apart from the others is my honest feedback. Therefore, I make sure that I explain the process at the beginning and throughout the transaction.
I follow up on the mortgage’s anniversary to check-in and answer any new client queries. I also attribute my success to being kind and humorous, which relieves stress and makes the process fun as I always strive to render a five-star service.
As a result, it fills me with immense satisfaction when I’m able to match my clients with a suitable lender, especially if they are first time home buyers or find themselves in a challenging situation.
I can fondly remember a couple that wanted to move to a better neighborhood to raise their daughter, but didn’t think they would qualify. When I told them that they had been approved, they cried with joy, which made me also shed tears of happiness.
When I’m not securing lenders for clients, I like to hike, bike, and spend quality time with my family. A big part of my life also revolves around the community, and I enjoy helping the homeless.
People judge the homeless without knowing how they got there, but it could happen to anyone, so I feel society needs to take better care of those that are not as fortunate, as receiving shelter is a human right.
I have enjoyed sharing my story about the things which matter to me and how they influence the way I do business.
